Privacy Policy

thepour ("thepour," "we," "us") is operated by Intent Studios LLC, based in Cary, Illinois. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. thepour is an AI-powered cocktail app featuring Vesper, an AI bartender.

01Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see your password in plain text).
• Content you provide. The ingredients in your bar, the staples in your pantry, the drinks you log — including any rating, tasting note, or whether you made it at home or had it out — your saved and favorited recipes, any party plans or keg recipes you build, and the messages you send to Vesper.
• Bottle photos. If you use photo recognition to add a bottle, the image you capture is sent for identification and is not stored by us after processing.
• Barcodes. If you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to product databases to look up what the bottle is. On Android, reading the barcode itself happens on your device.
• Push notification tokens. If you turn on notifications, your device gives us a token so we can send them. It is tied to your account, and is removed when you turn notifications off or delete your account.
• Diagnostic and usage data. If something goes wrong we collect a crash report: what broke, your device model, the operating system version, and which build you were on. We attach a one-way scrambled version of your account ID so we can tell whether one person hit the same problem twice — it cannot be turned back into your account. On our website we also collect basic usage information such as which pages are opened and how quickly they load; the iOS and Android apps do not send this.
• Your taste preferences stay on your device. The spirits, sweetness and dietary preferences you set are stored on your device and are not sent to us.

02How we use your information

• To provide the app — signing you in, saving your bar, and generating recipe suggestions.
• To power Vesper's responses based on what you tell her and what's in your bar.
• To send you essential account emails, such as sign-up confirmation and password resets.
• To send product emails to people who joined our early-access waitlist and asked to hear from us. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
• To find and fix crashes, and to understand how the website is used.
• To maintain, secure, and improve thepour.

03AI features and how they work

Vesper is powered by AI. To generate her replies, the messages you send and relevant context — what is in your bar and pantry, and the flavors you have rated well — are processed by Anthropic's Claude models running on Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock). When you choose to hear a reply aloud, the text of that reply is sent to ElevenLabs to generate the audio. We do not send your email address or your account ID to either of them, and both process it to deliver the feature. ElevenLabs may also keep the text of a spoken reply in our account history for a period; see section 06. When you use photo recognition to identify a bottle, the image is processed by a Claude vision model on Amazon Bedrock to identify the product. We do not keep the image once we have the identification.

04Service providers

We rely on a small set of trusted providers who process data on our behalf:

• Supabase — account authentication and database storage.
• Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock) — running the AI models that power Vesper, including bottle photo recognition.
• ElevenLabs — generating Vesper's voice audio.
• Sentry — crash and error reporting, so we can find and fix problems.
• Resend — delivering account emails such as sign-up confirmation, through our authentication provider's email settings.
• Klaviyo — holding our early-access waitlist and sending product emails to the people on it. The form that collected it is no longer in the app.
• Vercel — hosting and delivering the app. On our website, Vercel also measures page views and loading performance; the iOS and Android apps do not send this.

Each provider is bound to handle your data only as needed to provide their service to us.

A few other services receive limited information because of how the app is built:

• Open Food Facts and UPC Item DB receive the barcode number when you scan a bottle, so we can tell you what it is. They do not receive anything about you.
• Apple delivers push notifications to your device if you turn them on.

05What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. There is no advertising in thepour, we do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We share your information only with the service providers listed above, or when required by law. People on our early-access waitlist receive only our own emails — we do not share their addresses for anyone else's advertising.

06Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active.

You can delete your account from inside the app, under your profile. It removes your bar, pantry, drink history, saved recipes, party plans, keg recipes, and notification tokens from our live systems immediately, and clears thepour's data from the device you are using. It cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by emailing help@thepour.ai from your account address.

Some things outlive deletion, and we would rather say so: your rows persist inside our provider's encrypted database backups until those snapshots age out, currently within 8 days, a crash report is held by our error-monitoring provider for up to 30 days, our text-to-speech provider may keep the text of Vesper's spoken replies for a period, and our email provider keeps a delivery record for a limited period. 07Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and secure credential storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly.

08Age requirement

thepour is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and you must meet the minimum age required in your region to use the app. Content relates to alcoholic beverages, and you must be of legal drinking age to consume alcohol. If we learn we have collected information from someone who does not meet the age requirement, we will delete it.

09Your choices

You can access or correct your account information within the app, and you can delete your account at any time as described above. You can turn push notifications off at any time, in the app or in your device settings. If you receive our emails, every one of them has an unsubscribe link. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us and we'll honor applicable requests.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the effective date above, and significant changes will be communicated within the app or by email.
